FEAR!

A jolt hit her stomach like a rock plunging into a lake.  She was almost bend over.  More than a ripple effect.  Then the tingling began leap frogging across her abdomen.

FEAR!

Beth had felt impending doom before but nothing like this.  For nights she hadn't had quality sleep. The bangs under her eyes needed more than cucumber slices to remove them this time.

"She's two feet on the ground.  Solid as a rock.  A willow with such bendability.  She always rights herself," Jackie said.

Even Jackie knew something was up when Beth passed up those tiny chocolate cups at the Galley Restaurant, the kind with the peanut butter, crunch of course, on the bottom.  She just wanted home.

The air was more than stagnant as were the people.  No one was sleeping well.  Tossing and turning with endless thoughts of things that they hadn't done well in the past.  Cold, sweaty kind of nights. Almost like judgment day.  But who was to judge them?  They had done enough of that themselves.

First it was the piezo-electric effect.  She'd measured the Santa Cruz quake by the electricity down her leg.  Then it was the change in the electromagnetic fields.  Suddenly she was making connections to people in her environmental field.  Everything was opening for her. The portals were wide.

So were her fears.

"They're coming."

Her abdominal chakra always told the truth.

They were coming.

Robin Hood

It was darker than dark.  Locals call it the snow moon.  A full moon.  It happens in February when the air is cool and there is lots of snow.

It also happens during mud season. If you don't know what mud season is, let me give you a visual.  Snow melting off branches and off the ground.  Puddles and muck.  Everywhere. Beth had never seen so much mud.

With Trak Trax on she set out to explore.  Look carefully at the white car heading north.  It's being chased by a black vehicle with flashing lights but you can't see it up close.  There are teal colored orbs just off the rays of the sun reflecting on the wet road.  But it isn't the orbs that are of a concern.  The speeding white vehicle is.

Beth captured this photograph as the FBI agent was trailing the car.  Another one was just up the road with the rest of the road blocks.  She was glad to be inside her Subaru where she was safe.  But she got ahead of herself this time.  She didn't expect to actually see Jimmy, The Nose, Nostra.

If you remember he was notorious in New England.  The $14 million diamond heist was caught on camera. If the cameras don't catch you, drones, and satellites will.  It's a police state out there and it is getting worse.  Jimmy was a good man, underneath his multitude of follies.  Hoping the corporate structure could support the rest of us as they continue to erode our rights.  It's another reason the UFO are here.  They are watching and hoping we pull it together before it is too late.  How many messages do they have to send? They're telling us about HAARP induced storms like Katrina, Sandy, the tsunami in Japan.  They wonder when we will love our planet enough to stop destroying our foodstuff.

Jimmy has always been the Robin Hood, cept for his Maserati. But he wasn't driving it today.  He was driving a souped up sedan with a race car engine. Much like a Formula One vehicle with a lid.

"Well, the little green suit and hat...you know I love them hats, but not the pointy kind.  Horses are fine, too, but I don't want to be caught.  Let's just say I like stylish transportation.  Anyway, this is nuthin next to what them corporate bastards have stolen from the people."

"Lissen up. This money will hire the best lawyers Wall Street can provide.  I'm doin it for yous.  And the car, I already splained it," Jimmy said with a twinkle in his eye.

Beth hadn't been so torn before.  You know who she was rooting for and it wasn't J. Edgar Hoover.

The Snowman

"Look, I'm tellin ya it is on the wall by the beach.  Just look for the snowman, but hurry.  It will melt!"

Jimmy, The Nose, Nostra was famous in New England.  Not just because of his nose, but because of the funny hats he wore.  He was known to hide stolen diamonds in his hats of which he had many.  And he wasn't so nice about cutting fellow heisters in on the goods.  He preferred to play games with them.  Make them play hide and seek.

But $14 million dollars worth of "metastable allotrope of carbon where the carbon atoms are arranged in a variation of the face-centered cubic crystal structure called a diamond lattice*"is a lot of well, let's just say 'planning.'

Jimmy was a friendly sort.  Always dabbling in the arts.  Sure, he enjoyed heisting them, but what he really loved was creating them.  A playful man who could have his pick of colleges.  The problem was, Jimmy didn't have a long attention span.  He liked designing, then wanted to move to another medium.  He also liked outsmarting people.

Lucky Luciano had just phoned Jimmy.

"So, let me have it straight.  Are we doing poems, limericks, what this time?" Lucky said.

"Check your mail, it in an envelope inside, "Jimmy began.

Lucky couldn't get outside fast enough.  Opening the non-descript envelop he mouthed out loud:

"There was once a man named Joe.
He loved to dabble in snow.
But snow melts fast
You better bust your as*
If you wanna get diamonds
B'fore Matty Simons

I'm giving you one clue
And it ain't in the shoe
The eyes or the nose
The ears or the toes
Think about Matt
Cause it's rhymes with that

And that's all the clues
I'm giving you's.

Nubble Ghost Ship

Beth had only seen this in photographs.  But that spring morning when they drove out there, she anticipated just seeing a charming home.Plus she loved anything Maine.  Toss in huge granite boulders and she was home.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/ca/Cape-Neddick-Light.jpg
The locals call it the "Nubble." It is a ligh house formally called, the Nubble Lighthouse. Located just a bit off the eastern point of Cape Neddick, Maine. This tiny, rocky island is a couple of miles to the north of the mouth of York River and York Harbor.  You can see why it was named, Savage Rock a few hundred years ago. It is only accessible by boat in treacherous waters.  But a few decades before it was build the ship, Isidore, sank in the area.  Sometimes in the evenings, you can see people in the distance awaiting the ghost ship.  Beth wanted...had to know more.

Not Just A Theory Anymore:Bribery, Fraud, Price Fixing

Big Pharma Criminality no Longer a Conspiracy Theory: Bribery, Fraud, Price

Those of us who have long been describing the pharmaceutical industry as a "criminal racket" over the last few years have been wholly vindicated by recent news. Drug and vaccine manufacturer Merck was caught red-handed by two of its own scientists faking vaccine efficacy data by spiking blood samples with animal antibodies. GlaxoSmithKline has just been fined a whopping $3 billion for bribing doctors, lying to the FDA, hiding clinical trial data and fraudulent marketing. Pfizer, meanwhile has been sued by the nation's pharmacy retailers for what is alleged as an "overarching anticompetitive scheme" to keep generic cholesterol drugs off the market and thereby boost its own profits.
The picture that's emerging is one of a criminal drug industry that has turned to mafia tactics in the absence of any real science that would prove their products to be safe or effective. The emergence of this extraordinary evidence of bribery, scientific fraud, lying to regulators and monopolistic practices that harm consumers is also making all those doctors and "skeptics" who defended Big Pharma and vaccines eat their words.

To defend Big Pharma today is to defend a cabal of criminal corporations that have proven they will do anything -- absolutely anything -- to keep their profits rolling in. It makes no difference who they have to bribe, what studies they have to falsify, or who has to be threatened into silence. They will stop at nothing to expand their profit base, even if it means harming (or killing) countless innocents.
Let's take a look at recent revelations:
GlaxoSmithKline pleads guilty to bribery, fraud and other crimes
It what is now the largest criminal fraud settlement ever to come out of the pharmaceutical industry, GlaxoSmithKline has pleaded guilty and agreed to pay $1 billion in criminal fines and $2 billion in civil fines following a nine-year federal investigation into its activities.
According to U.S. federal investigators, GlaxoSmithKline (http://www.naturalnews.com/036416_GlaxoSmithKline_fraud_criminal_char...):
• Routinely bribed doctors with luxury vacations and paid speaking gigs
• Fabricated drug safety data and lied to the FDA
• Defrauded Medicare and Medicaid out of billions
• Deceived regulators about the effectiveness of its drugs
• Relied on its deceptive practices to earn billions of dollars selling potentially dangerous drugs to unsuspecting consumers and medical patients
And this is just the part they got caught doing. GSK doesn't even deny any of this. The company simply paid the $3 billion fine, apologized to its customers, and continued conducting business as usual.
By the way, in addition to bribing physicians, GSK has plenty of money to spread around bribing celebrities and others who pimps its products. The company reportedly paid $275,000 to the celebrity doctor known as "Dr. Drew," who promoted Glaxo's mind-altering antidepressant drug Wellbutrin (http://naturalsociety.com/top-radio-doctor-paid-by-glaxosmithkline-to...).

As the Wall Street Journal reports:
In June 1999, popular radio personality Dr. Drew Pinsky used the airwaves to extol the virtues of GlaxoSmithKline PLC's antidepressant Wellbutrin, telling listeners he prescribes it and other medications to depressed patients because it "may enhance or at least not suppress sexual arousal" as much as other antidepressants do. But one thing listeners didn't know was that, two months before the program aired, Dr. Pinsky -- who gained fame as "Dr. Drew" during years co-hosting a popular radio sex-advice show "Loveline" -- received the second of two payments from Glaxo totaling $275,000 for "services for Wellbutrin."
Merck falsified vaccine data, spiked blood samples and more, say former employees
According to former Merck virologists Stephen Krahling and Joan Wlochowski, the company: (http://www.naturalnews.com/036328_Merck_mumps_vaccine_False_Claims_Ac...)
• "Falsified test data to fabricate a vaccine efficacy rate of 95 percent or higher."
• Spiked the blood test with animal antibodies in order to artificially inflate the appearance of immune system antibodies.
• Pressured the two virologists to "participate in the fraud and subsequent cover-up."
• Used the falsified trial results to swindle the U.S. government out of "hundreds of millions of dollars for a vaccine that does not provide adequate immunization."
• Intimidated the scientists, threatening them with going to jail unless they stayed silent.
This is all documented in a 2010 False Claims Act which NaturalNews has acquired and posted here:
http://www.naturalnews.com/gallery/documents/Merck-False-Claims-Act.p...
Millions of children put at risk by Merck
In that document the two virologists say they, "witnessed firsthand the improper testing and data falsification in which Merck engaged to artificially inflate the vaccine's efficacy findings."
They also claim that because of the faked vaccine results, "the United States has over the last decade paid Merck hundreds of millions of dollars for a vaccine that does not provide adequate immunization... The United States is by far the largest financial victim of Merck's fraud."
They go on to point out that children are the real victims, however:
"But the ultimate victims here are the millions of children who every year are being injected with a mumps vaccine that is not providing them with an adequate level of protection. ...The failure in Merck's vaccine has allowed this disease to linger with significant outbreaks continuing to occur."
Merck's mumps viral strain is 45 years old!
According to the complaint, Merck has been using the same mumps strain -- weakened from generations of being "passaged" -- for the last 45 years! The complaint reads:
"For more than thirty years, Merck has had an exclusive license from the FDA to manufacture and sell a mumps vaccine in the U.S. The FDA first approved the vaccine in 1967. It was developed by Dr. Maurice Hilleman, at Merck's West Point research facility, from the mumps virus that infected his five year-old daughter Jeryl Lynn. Merck continues to use this 'Jeryl Lynn' strain of the virus for its vaccine today."
A complete medical farce
This information appears to show Merck's mumps vaccine to be a complete medical farce. Those who blindly backed Merck's vaccines -- the science bloggers, "skeptics," doctors, CDC and even the FDA -- have been shown to be utter fools who have now destroyed their reputations by siding with an industry now known to be dominated by scientific fraud and unbounded criminality.
That's the really hilarious part in all this: After decades of doctors, scientists and government authorities blindly and brainlessly repeating the mantra of "95% effectiveness," it all turns out to be total quackery hogwash. Utterly fabricated. Quackety-quack quack. And all those hundreds of millions of Americans who lined up to be injected with MMR vaccines were all repeatedly and utterly conned into potentially harming themselves while receiving no medical benefit.
Intelligent, informed NaturalNews readers, home school parents, and "awakened" people who said "No!" to vaccines are now emerging as the victors in all this. By refusing to be injected with Merck's vaccines, they avoided being assaulted with a fraudulent cocktail of adjuvant chemicals and all-but-useless mumps strains over four decades old. They protected their time, money and health. Those who refuse to be physically violated by vaccines are, once again, turning out to be the smartest people in society. No wonder they also tend to be healthier than the clueless fools who line up to get vaccinated every year.
Merck fraudulently misrepresented the efficacy of its vaccine and contributed to the spread of infectious disease, says lawsuit
The faked vaccine efficacy numbers aren't the only troubles Merck is now facing. Shortly after the above False Claims Act was made public, Chatom Primary Care filed suit against Merck. That document is available from NaturalNews at:
http://www.naturalnews.com/gallery/documents/Chatom-Lawsuit-Merck-Mum...
It alleges that:
• [Merck engaged in] ...a decade-long scheme to falsify and misrepresent the true efficacy of its vaccine.
• Merck fraudulently represented and continues to falsely represent in its labeling and elsewhere that its Mumps Vaccine has an efficacy rate of 95 percent of higher.
• Merck knows and has taken affirmative steps to conceal -- by using improper testing techniques and falsifying test data -- that its Mumps Vaccine is, and has been since at least 1999, far less than 95 percent effective.
• Merck designed a testing methodology that evaluated its vaccine against a less virulent strain of the mumps virus. After the results failed to yield Merck's desired efficacy, Merck abandoned the methodology and concealed the study's findings.
• Merck also engaged in "incorporating the use of animal antibodies to artificially inflate the results... destroying evidence of the falsified data and then lying to an FDA investigator... threatened a virologist in Merck's vaccine division with jail if he reported the fraud to the FDA."
• "Merck designed a testing methodology that evaluated its vaccine against a less virulent strain of the mumps virus. After the results failed to yield Merck's desired efficacy, Merck abandoned the methodology and concealed the study's findings. [Then] Merck designed even more scientifically flawed methodology, this time incorporating the use of animal antibodies to artificially inflate the results, but it too failed to achieve Merck's fabricated efficacy rate. Confronted with two failed methodologies, Merck then falsified the test data to guarantee the results it desired. Having achieved the desired, albeit falsified, efficacy threshold, Merck submitted these fraudulent results to the FDA and European Medicines Agency."
• "Merck took steps to cover up the tracks of its fraudulent testing by destroying evidence of the falsified data and then lying to an FDA investigator... Merck also attempted to buy the silence and cooperation of its staff by offering them financial incentives to follow the direction of Merck personnel overseeing the fraudulent testing process. Merck also threatened... Stephen Krahling, a virologist in Merck's vaccine division from 1999 to 2001, with jail if he reported fraud to the FDA."
• "Merck continued to conceal what it knew about the diminished efficacy of its Mumps Vaccine even after significant mumps outbreaks in 2006 and 2009."
Obama administration has zero interest in actual justice
Another interesting note in all this is that under President Obama, the U.S. Dept. of Justice showed no interest whatsoever in investigating Merck over the False Claims Act filed by two of its former virologists. Despite the convincing evidence of fraud described in detail by insider whistleblowers, the Obama Department of Justice, led by gun-running Attorney General Eric Holder who is already facing serious questions over Operation Fast and Furious, simply chose to ignore the False Claims Act complaint.
When evidence of criminal fraud was brought before the U.S. Department of Justice, in other words, the DoJ looked the other way with a wink and a nod to the medical crimes taking place right under their noses. Who cares if tens of millions of children are being injected year after year with a fraudulent mumps vaccine? There's money to be made, after all, and exploiting the bodies of little children for profit is just business as usual in a fascist nation dominated by corporate interests.
Pfizer sued by retailers over anticompetitive scheme
Adding to all this, Pfizer has now been sued by five U.S. retailers (pharmacies) who accuse the company of monopolistic market practices. According to the lawsuit, Pfizer conspired to prevent generic versions of its blockbuster cholesterol drug Lipitor from entering the market. This was done to protect billions in profits while making sure patients did not have access to more affordable cholesterol drugs. Pfizer sells nearly $10 billion worth of Lipitor each year.
According to the Reuters report on this lawsuit, Pfizer is being accused of (http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/07/05/us-pfizer-walgreen-lipitor-...):
• Obtaining a fraudulent patent
• Engaging in sham litigation
• Entering a price-fixing agreement to delay cheaper generics
• Entering arrangements with pharmacy benefit managers to force retailers to buy more Lipitor (chemical name is atorvastatin calcium)
No arrests or prosecution of Big Pharma executives
One of the most astonishing realizations in all this is that given all the criminal fraud, bribery, misrepresentation, lying to the FDA, price fixing and other crimes that are going on in the pharmaceutical industry, you'd think somebody somewhere might be arrested and charged with a crime, right?
Nope.
To date, not a single pharmaceutical CEO, marketing employee or drug rep has been charged with anything related to all this fraud. In America, drug company employees are "above the law" just like top mafia bosses of a bygone era.
How insane is this, exactly? Consider this:
Imagine if YOU, an individual, went around town bribing doctors, falsifying data, selling a fraudulent product to the government, lying to regulators, engaging in anti-trade price-fixing and threatening your employees into silence. What would happen to you?
You'd probably wind up rotting in prison, the subject of an FBI investigation and a DoJ prosecution.
So why is it okay for a multi-billion-dollar corporation to carry out these same crimes and get away with it? Why are the CEOs of top drug companies given a free pass to commit felony crimes and endless fraud?
I'll tell you why, and you're not gonna like the answer: Because America has become a nation run by crooks for the benefit of crooks. It's one big country club, and as comedian George Carlin used to say, "YOU ain't in it!"
If Big Pharma would falsify data on vaccines, what else would the industry do?
I hope you're getting the bigger picture in all this, friends. If these drug companies routinely bribe doctors, falsify data, defraud the government and commit felony crimes without remorse, what else would they be willing to do for profit?
Would they:
• Falsify efficacy data on other prescription drugs?
• Exploit children for deadly vaccine trials?
• Invent fictitious diseases to sell more drugs?
• Unleash bioweapons to cause a profitable pandemic?
• Conspire with the CDC to spread fear to promote vaccinations?
• Silence whistleblowers who try to go public with the truth?
• Give people cancer via stealth viruses in vaccines?
• Destroy the careers of medical scientists who question Big Pharma?
• Force a medical monopoly on the entire U.S. population via socialist health care legislation?
But of course they would. In fact, the industry is doing all those things right now. And if you don't believe me, just remember that five years ago, no one believed me when I said drug companies were engaged in criminal conspiracies to defraud the nation -- something that has now been proven over a nine-year investigation.

The Real Elephant Man

Saying Goodbye: Elephants Hold Apparent Vigil To Mourn Their Human Friend

Lawrence Anthony was a conservationist and author known as "The Elephant Whisperer" who passed away on March 2nd. In 1999, Anthony rescued and rehabilitated a group of wild South African elephants who were deemed dangerous. And the animals appear to remember what he did for them: when Anthony passed away, a group of elephants visited his house in the South African KwaZulu for a two-day vigil, according to his family.
lawrence-anthony-elephants-1.jpg
A line of elephants approaching the Anthony house
Anthony, who grew up in rural Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi, was known for his unique ability to communicate with and calm traumatized elephants. In his book 'The Elephant Whisperer: My Life with the Herd in the African Wild', he tells the story of saving the elephant herds, at the request of an animal welfare organization.
Anthony concluded that the only way he could save these elephants, who were categorized as violent and unruly, was to live with them - "To save their lives, I would stay with them, feed them, talk to them. But, most importantly, be with them day and night".
When Anthony died of a heart attack, the elephants, who were grazing miles away in different parts of the park, travelled over 12 hours to reach his house. According to his son Jason, both herds arrived shortly after Anthony's death. They hadn't visited the compound where Anthony lived for a year and a half, but Jason says "in coming up there on that day of all days, we certainly believe that they had sensed it".
lawrence-anthony-elephants-2.jpg
Anthony with some members of the herd
While it's hard to say how they could have sensed that Anthony had died, elephants are known for their grieving rituals, both in the wild and in captivity. According to many researchers, elephants grieve the deaths of their relatives, as when a child or parent dies.

To find out more about Anthony's life and work - among his many achievements are the founding of conservation group The Earth Organization in 2003, and rushing to the Baghdad Zoo to protect the animals that remained alive there after the American invasion of Iraq - check out his obituary in the New York Times.
For another look at the emotional bonds that elephants may experience with one another, this short documentary details the experience of two elephants, Shirley Jenny, who were reunited after over 20 years of being apart. They went on to live together for 6 years before Jenny's death in 2006, at which time Shirley remained alone in the woods and didn't eat for two days.

Are elephants are mystery?  I don't think so.  They feel deeply, respond deeply.  They connect with other living things.  They will never forget Lawrence Anthony.

Happy Valentine's Day, Lenscrafters

I love Valentine's Day.  All the special people in our lives.  People who we love unconditionally, people who do the right thing. Ultimately.

An extra special love goes out to Lenscrafters, the eye glass people.  Remembering when I bought a pair of glasses in the Princeton Marketfair, New Jersey store.  The screw keep breaking and they would drill another one.  Each time the lens fell out.  Each time I returned to the store asking them to replace the frame.  Each time they said no. After a few YEARS of this I decided to give them one more try. Enter Joe, wonderful store manager.  He gave me another pair.  The glasses lasted for years. Valentine's to Joe.

My experience in the Asheville, North Carolina was similar to my experience in the Princeton store.  Though the ending wasn't so happy.  A year after I bought a pair of Ray-Ban titanium framed glasses, the screw fell out.  I had moved to New Hampshire and taken the glasses to the North Shore Mall in Massachusetts hoping to find resolution.  What I found was disinterested staff, they couldn't find a screw, they blew me off.  I am told that is the experience of lots of people.  I send you a loving Valentine.  You need it.

I even called the Asheville, NC store and spoke to the staff.  The manager was unavailable.  Several weeks after my call, the manager telephoned. The glasses were no longer being made (what a surprise).  They weren't interested, nor would they replace the frames. A Valentine to you.  Enough said.

Pearl Vision in Dover, NH was interested in my problem.  The technician worked over an hour on the glasses and found a suitable screw. A Valentine to all the loving staff there.  Wow!

Keeping my fingers crossed, I hoped they would last.  Take a close look:

The picture doesn't have to be clear to see that the frame is broken.  The owner takes beautiful care of things.  Apparently the manufacturer did not.  Still, a Valentine goes their way.

But remember, you exist because we support you.  Failure to provide adequate customer service ensures customers will not return.  I know I won't.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Secrecy!

Secret underground bases you say? So many mysterious earthquakes in areas without fault lines.  The one in the D.C./ VA area is still on my mind. This one perked my interest, too:

Owning The Weather

The dreams are more vivid now.  Ramped up.  Things aren't what they seem.

Snow continues to fall.  Sugar-like.  A fine powder.  Beth had never seen snow like this.  Living in the north east and mid Atlantic states meant she endured years of snow.  Large amounts even.  But it looked like snow. Not this.

Radar weather rings began appearing on various websites.  The sites spoke of increasing electrical lightening storms throughout the seasons.  No one had seen them before.  That coupled with a change in the frequency of storms gave pause to probe further.

Even Nate was curious.  His intuition peaked and he began to research this along with a friend from NOAA.  The friend only spoken on the basis of total confidentiality.  Nate agreed.

"No time in history have we had these kinds of electrical storms.  No time in history did we have frequencies measured like this.  Hurricanes are forming over land, tornadoes are forming over water.  It is the total opposite of how nature works.  Everyone in the academic community is talking about it. No one will go public.  Yet."

Beth saw the convergence.

"Ever since Katrina, the Gulf Oil spill, the tsunami in Japan, more UFOs, more sounds from deep in the earth, more unexplained lights in the sky, more power usurped by government, the internet freezing more, well, it makes you more than wonder," she said.

'We're going toward totalitarianism, just look at it.  We have to be comatose not to notice," offered Rob.

"I mean, let's get real.  The government is controlling and altering the weather.  We don't know how long this has gone on.  Deception occurs at ever level.  They work together, work against each other, disinformation is abundant.  If that isn't enough, they've created clones.  Just look at the aberrant behavior of people who used to speak up.  They've become stepford children," Rob said.

Control the weather, you control everything.  Control the weapons, you control the people.  Take away their liberties.  It's been going on for years.  The zombies aren't out they, they are us.

Pay attention, government is owning the weather.  Soon they will own you.

Not Even A Line Item

"Not again," she cried.

Beth had seen a lifetime of corruption.  She did her share to expose it.  Something didn't feel right. She thought this was resolved.  Her license plate had been surrendered to the Motor Vehicle Administration .  A receipt from that transaction was even sent to the clerk in the tax office.  She even called to ensure she was following 'their' protocol.  They assured her everything was paid in full. But if there was any additional charge, they would send a bill out.  That was seven months ago. Last year.

It was the third bill in the pile.  She didn't get many.  It was from the county where she lived for some eleven years.  Her beloved mountains.  A thin envelope she couldn't imagine what was inside. Seven months ago.  Last year. Clearly a mistake or maybe they were sending me a receipt stating I owed them nothing.  She opened it with her late stepfather's golf club mail opener.  She wanted whatever was inside that narrow envelope to be fully intact.

SECOND NOTICE.  She didn't even receive a first notice.  They had her address.  Her eyes panned the lines. $15.04.  There was no mention in the bill of any finance charge.  Or any means to account for the $15.04 bill she received.  An immediate telephone call to a not-too-sharp pencil in the drawer clerk provided no information and lots of nastiness.  In fact, the clerk even threatened her with garnishing her wages. The call to the Business Manager resulted in him being 'in a meeting.'  Beth never received a call back from him.  She would have from the former business manager. It was a fair administration.  Accountable.

Garnish my wages?  Whooooa.

That has gone a bit too far.  She even spoke to a lawyer friend about it.  Bureacracies!  He had troubles of his own with the county where his office building was.

Another friend  reminded her that the county has unequal treatment for individuals.  Some people get away with not paying their county 'revolving loans for ten years' while fining others who are 'late' in their auto and property tax payments.

Beth began to wonder. She even spent time reviewing late charges.  Of course, it took a Freedom Of Information Act letter to force the county to open their records.  By this time Beth was more than curious what was going on.

Closer inspection demonstrated there were a lot of finance charges meted out.  With no FIRST notices.  There wasn't any line item or paper trail to list the finance charges garnered.  She began to wonder who was pocketing the change.  She also remembered the note she received last week from a high level politico.

"I bet you are glad you moved out of this county. I..."

While Beth didn't want to speak it aloud, this individual  referred to ineptness, corruption at the highest levels, between branches even.  That most of it goes unnoticed...or worse, cheeks are turned the other way. This individual inquired about the fairness in my newly adopted county.

"Corruption has no boundaries," Beth reminded the politico.

The Sheriff's Office conveniently looked the other way.  The feathered nest thing.  So Beth paid the bill, she didn't even contest the $1.11 finance fee.

She had asked for a sign to affirm that and she got it. The Universe has a way of telling us when it is time to go.

Stepfords

They went about their day much like they did the day before.  And the day before that.  Little changed.  Glued to the media in any form, they were continually aghast.  They followed blindly into the Vietnam War, trusted Congress and their President.  They bought the September 11th disaster and sent innocent people off to harm's war. Again.  Even built the costliest military ever.  The latest and greatest of armaments.  The infrastructure at home continued to fail.  We sent our jobs overseas.

People were laid off in droves.  The unemployment rolls didn't tell the full story.  They only told what they wanted us to know.  Never accounting for all the people who had exhausted their unemployment benefits, or the people who just gave up.

Heads of major financially struggling corporations sent their executives to Congress, many of whom flew in company as they cried poor mouth.   They bailed out the corporations, even allowed incompetent CEO types to have million dollar bonuses.  Senseless murders group style occurred at an unbelievable frequency.  Congress who can't seem to get anything done is now talking banning weapons.  A country gone mad?

It just doesn't fit.  No jobs, no guns.  Control the people and you control?
